The software works locally

Once installed, BatteryOnPC runs on your PC: it reads your devices' battery locally, with no account or tracking. The only data it may send is an anonymous technical diagnostic, sent only when a device is detected but its battery stays unreadable, so that support for it can be added. This diagnostic contains only hardware identifiers (device type, VID/PID, HID report structure) and the app and Windows versions: no personal data, no identifier. It is sent only once per device. You can turn it off anytime from the icon menu (“Send anonymous diagnostics”). Legal basis: legitimate interest (product improvement); anonymous data.

Data collected and purposes

• Purchase: your email address (to send you the download link and receipt). Transaction data (and card data, which we never see) is processed by Stripe. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
• Contact form: name, email and message content, to reply to you. Legal basis: your consent / pre-contractual measures.
• Waiting list: your email address, solely to let you know when sales open, in a single message. No other use, never resold, unsubscribe in one click. Legal basis: your consent.
• Technical logs: IP address and request data, kept briefly for security and abuse prevention (anti-spam, rate limiting). Legal basis: legitimate interest.
• Accounting obligations: retention of sales records. Legal basis: legal obligation.

We use no advertising cookies or analytics tools, and carry out no automated decision-making or profiling.

Recipients & processors

• Stripe (payment): Stripe's policy.
• Resend (sending transactional and contact emails, hosting the waiting list).
• Netlify, Inc. (site hosting).

Some providers may process data outside the European Union; in that case, appropriate safeguards (the European Commission's standard contractual clauses) govern those transfers.

Retention periods

• Purchase / delivery email: as long as needed for support, then legal archiving.
• Accounting records: in accordance with legal obligations (generally 10 years).
• Contact messages: up to 1 year after the request is handled.
• Waiting list: until the launch message is sent, then deleted.
• Technical logs: a few days to a few weeks.

Your rights

In accordance with the GDPR, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. To exercise them, write to contact@batteryonpc.com. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr).

Security

The site applies protective measures (HTTPS, security headers, input validation, rate limiting, data minimization). As no system is infallible, we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we strive to protect your information.
