What is BatteryOnPC?
BatteryOnPC is a lightweight utility for Windows 10 and 11 that reads the battery level of your wireless devices and shows it permanently in the taskbar. It covers PlayStation controllers (including the PS5 DualSense, which Windows cannot read on its own), Xbox controllers, Bluetooth gamepads, gaming mice, keyboards and headsets.
It runs in the background, uses no measurable CPU, adds no input lag in game, and sends a Windows notification as soon as a device drops below the threshold you choose. One-time purchase, no subscription, no account needed to use it.
What it reads
More than 590 models: PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo controllers, the Steam Controller, 8BitDo and Flydigi controllers, and wireless mice, keyboards and headsets from brands such as Logitech, Razer, Corsair, SteelSeries, HyperX, Sony INZONE, Audeze, ASUS ROG and G-Wolves. PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo controllers are detected automatically; the other devices are added in one click.
How it works
Windows only shows the battery of a few devices, and only in its settings. Every brand reports the level its own way, through its USB receiver, over Bluetooth or over the cable. BatteryOnPC speaks these protocols, most of them documented for years by open-source projects, and reads PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo controllers passively: it only listens to what they already send, so it does not disturb a game.
How it compares to the free options
Windows, the Xbox app, Steam, DS4Windows and each brand's software all show a battery level somewhere. Here is what each one covers.
| Method | What it reads | Where you see the level | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windows settings | Xbox controllers and Bluetooth devices that report a standard battery level | In Settings, when you open them | Free |
| Xbox Accessories, Game Bar | Xbox controllers | In the app or the Game Bar, while it is open | Free |
| Steam | The controllers Steam supports | Inside Steam, while it runs | Free |
| DS4Windows | Mainly PlayStation controllers | In its window | Free |
| Brand software (G HUB, Synapse, iCUE, GG) | That brand's devices only | In the brand's software | Free, one per brand |
| BatteryOnPC | Controllers, mice, keyboards and headsets from over 30 brands | Always in the taskbar, one icon per device, with alerts | 4,89 €, one-time |
